This course explores the broad landscape of religion in America, focusing on the diverse religious
traditions that make up the tapestry of religious life in the United States. While special attention will be paid
to the narrative of the Catholic Church in the United States, contributions made by the diverse religious
traditions to the social, cultural and religious dimensions of life in the United States will also be examined.
Topics include: religious and cultural diversity, pluralism, fundamentalism, ecumenism, education, interreligious
dialogue and current issues in American religion. This course is conducted as a seminar.
